How We Bought A House

As mentioned in our welcome back post, Bryan and I bought a house in April!  It has been a very exciting time.  We had been in a rental home since our wedding, and knew we wanted to have a place of our own as soon as possible.  Then, even more so once we knew there was a baby coming!

After getting pre-approved we set up an appointment with a realtor to look at 3 houses the first day.  House #1, and absolute no.  The foundation was in terrible condition and the floors throughout the whole house were at an incline.  Plus, the only bathroom was on the main floor, while the bedroom were all upstairs…not a great combo for a prego lady having to get up multiple times a night to use the bathroom!  House #2 was also a for sure no, the layout was just not conducive to a family.  Then we pull up to house #3. My first thought was “wow! that is TINY!”, and I was sure we would have another no.  I was pretty disappointed that we weren’t going to like any of them on our first day out. But then we walked up the steps to the front door and inside the living room.  And then the more we looked at it, the more we liked it, and by the end of the visit, we both kind of knew it was the one.  We made an offer later in the week after looking at it a 2nd time, and after a counter-offer, we signed the papers.  We closed on April 22nd, and are so thrilled with our little home!

It is approximately 1,000 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom and a full basement.  There is plumbing in the basement for a 2nd bathroom which we plan to add soon.  A full tour is coming soon…stay tuned for plenty of before pictures and lists of plans!!!
